About Finishing School

•             Finishing school is an Employability Enhancement Initiative of the Education Department,Government of Gujarat for imparting training on Skill development for Higher and Technical Education to make them Industry-ready conducted since the year 2016-17.Finishing school program tends to strengthen students with self-esteem, self-confidence, professional skills, and functional communication skills which is the prerequisite for a healthy professional life and life in general with helps of experts trainers. Since the academic year 2017-18, almost 10 batches (407 students) have been benefited by this training at Government Polytechnic,Valsad.

Program at Glance

•             Initially Finishing school program was of 100 hours of Four Modules but from 2019 it is restructured to total 80 hours of Four Modules: Two Modules for Life Skills and Employability Skills & Two Modules for Functional English. The Program is conducted by Empaneled professional trainers from all across the nation and every year scrutinized final year students from Granted institute are offered to participate in the program.

•             It is a satisfying experience to execute this program initiated by Education department, Government of Gujarat. This program is beneficial for the final year students while grooming themselves towards their endeavor. Students have embraced finishing school program wholeheartedly. Beyond the curriculum, the designed finishing school lecture’s deliver brilliance necessary skill to the students. In context to the training given to the students of Government Polytechnic, Valsad, I am very much pleased and further opine that the trainers were proficient in their domain knowledge. They trained our students very profoundly and professionally. In addition, their cooperation with the coordinator and other supportive staffs was also very good.

Coordinator Desk:

•             Finishing school is an excellent move to enhance the employability of students within the global industries in developing countries. Finishing school programs are logical response to that necessity of industries that reduce the skills gap in its current and future employees between what was actually taught by academia and the capabilities and skills demanded by the private sector.Main objective of finishing school is to train the freshers according to ever changing industries demands in order to improve their employability.Since the academic year 2017-18, almost 7 batches (287 students) have been benefited by this program at Government Polytechnic, Valsad.
