- Civil Engineering is considered to be the most versatile branch among all the engineering branches. We are dedicated to providing innovative and high-quality opportunities for our students
acquire the fundamental knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for entry and success in the professional practice It is the branch with a lot of diversity from Surveying, Transportation,
Construction Project management ,Hydraulics, Structural Engineering, Soil Engineering etc.
Government Polytechnic Valsad was established in 1965 and the Civil Engineering Department is part of the institute since its inception.
The department is marching towards a full fledged department with specializations in all the major areas of Civil Engineering. Faculty members of the department are highly qualified and
received training from reputed institutions in India. The department offers courses at Diploma Engineering level.
Civil Engineering is NBA Accredited for academic year 2022-2023 to 2024-2025 i.e. up to 30-06-2025

Computer Laboratory
At the Computer laboratory, students learn to develop basic skills in ICT for creating professional documents, analyzing data, preparing multimedia presentations, and using internet services and to Prepare detailed 2D drawing of building components (beam, slab, column and footing), plan, elevation and section drawings required for civil engineering activities and 3D drawing of residential house using advance tools AutoCAD and basic tools of REVIT software.
Hydraulics Laboratory
Fluid mechanics and hydraulic laboratory is conducted for diploma engineering students of Chemical, Civil and Mechanical engineering students in their 3rd semester . This laboratory is well equipped with the experimental set up like Bernoulli's apparatus, Reynolds’s experimental set-up, Different types of pressure measuring devices like Manometers,Venturi-meter, Orifice meter and “V” notch and apparatus for determining major and minor head loss through pipes. The Laboratory is equipped with the following instruments/Apparatus: 1.Hydraulic Bench with Venturimeter,Orifice,Rectangular and V notches, Bernoulli's apparatus and head Loss apparatus. 2.Reynold's apparatus
Surveying Laboratory
The laboratory of Surveying is well equipped with all the required instruments and tools that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of a student. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments. The Surveying Laboratory is equipped with the following instruments/equipment: 1. Metric Chain 30 m/20 m 2. Measuring Tape 30 m /20 m 3. Electronic Distance Meter (E.D.M) 4. Line Ranger, Optical square/Cross staff 5. Plumb bob, Arrows, Ranging Rod, hammers 6. Prismatic Compass 7. Environment Laboratory
In the Environment laboratory, students will be able to determine various properties of water & waste water and find suitability of water or waste water for further usage. To determine the properties of water, wastewater, this laboratory is well equipped with necessary equipments as listed below: 1) Digital pH meter 2) Digital Turbidity meter 3) B.O.D. Incubator 4) Digital cod digestion apparatus and extraction heater 5) DO analyzer 6) T.D.S. meter (PEN TYPE)
Material Testing Laboratory
In the Material testing laboratory, students will be able to determine various properties of construction materials and determine the suitability of these materials for different applications on field. Equipments are available as listed below: 1) Set of sieves 2) Compression Testing Machine 3) Impact Testing Machine 4) Crushing Value Test Apparatus 5) Hot air oven 6) Vicat Apparatus
Transportation Laboratory
In the transportation laboratory, students will be able to determine various properties of bitumen used in pavement construction. To determine the properties of bitumen, this laboratory is well equipped with necessary equipments as listed below: 1) Pensky Martens Apparatus 2) Bitumen penetration Test Apparatus 3) Softening point Apparatus
